Fishing with me and a bunch of buddies in Montana
Glide fishing is complex and costly with too much cumbersome gear, right? Well, tenkara’s different. Long overlooked in the West, tenkara is economical and simple, productive, and pleasurable This Eastern approach is today taking the glide-fishing world in North America and Europe by storm. Its tool kit is simple: a long, collapsible rod; a length of line tied to the end of the rod; and a glide. Withoug a reel, casting techniques become simple and intuitive. The gear is inexpensive and easily portable, perfect for hiking and camping.
This pioneering book is an ideal guide to tenkara, covering the essentials of gear and rigging, the roots of tenkara, fishing dry flies as well as subsurface fishing and casting–as well as tenkara backpacking and tenkara for women. Tenkara has been the subject of features in Field & Stream, American Angler, and Glide, Rod & Reel magazines, and has been endorsed by the likes of Patagonia CEO and environmentalist Yvon Chouinard. Major retail outlets are now selling tenkara rods.

Question by Emily H: What are the BEST podcasts out there?
What are the best podcasts out there? I’m especially interested in things that can cater to broad, general interests (i.e. nothing specifically about video games or glide fishing, etc.)–just things I can listen to leisurely. Can you tell me what you like and where to get it?

I went on the Bass pro website. I live in canada so cabellas isn’t an option. So I found this combo and was wondering if it’s a excellent rod to help me start glide fishing for steelhead, brown trout, brook trout and salmon. Im fishing the credit river which feeds into lake ontario. Can this rod handle the long fights of salmon and trout.
Also does anyone know any honeyholes on the credit?

For salmon and steelhead, you would want the heavier rod. (larger number) The 5 weight is mostly for trout or small fish.

Part 4 of my documentary “Gone Fishin’ – An interview w/ Russell Chatham’. In this segment Russell discusses his like of painting, where it started and what drives his thoughts and visions. In the midst of working for Russell building frames and other handy-man tasks, I’d realized no one had ever sat him down and questioned him about his life, his art, his passion for glide-fishing and his up-bringing. I made it my job to do so. This was my first effort at making a documentary and w/ a budget of – I was the whole production team except for being camera guy, this goes out to Rob Ralston, Kyle Bring ‘B’ camera and on a momentary ‘C’ camera, Lenny ‘America’ Woodward. You can watch the whole version here in it’s parts, or buy copies of the DVD by contacting me @ gonefishin2009@yahoo.com. The DVD contains additional interview footage and Russell Chatham video I’d made for his 12 month lithograph suite on the Missouri river.

well I’m from NJ and fishing here is very excellent…not the best but very solid…you have you rainbow, brook, brown, and lake trout…your bass, yellow perch, pickerel, pike more north, walleye more north, sunnies, bluegills, chubbs, your golden shiners, your small mouth, your grass carp, your common carp, and your catifsh…which are the common fish…bass here get up to probably 8lbs which is massive and my personal best if 5 1/2…trout get nice even in small brooks (2lb brookie in a small brook) but get ‘probably 8lbs in larger rivers like the Delaware (which is in NJ as well). pickerel get huge and fight hard throughout the entire state…bluegills get to a lb usually if its a private pond sometimes 2lbs…catfish get massive in larger bodies of water and same with carp…well thats about it for now!!!
